Welcome to become a psychologist
Become a Psychologist is a free information portal about starting a career in psychology provided by Liam Healy & Associates, Chartered Occupational Psychologists.
Psychology is the evidence based science of mind and behaviour. It is one of the most challenging of professional careers and offers a wide variety of specialities and types of practise ranging from improving health and wellbeing, to acting as expert witnesses in personal and work related illness/injury cases.
This site provides information about a career as a psychologist - including information about working as a Practitioner Psychologist, a non-practitioner psychologist, and jobs in psychology teaching and university based psychology research.
There is also information about the regulation of psychologists, university degree and postgraduate psychology training course entry requirements, the psychology qualifications it is possible to obtain, and the professional bodies which regulate and represent psychologists.
Psychology is one of the most popular university degree subjects, and the critical thinking and scientific analysis skills it provides means that a university graduate with a psychology degree can apply their skills to, and find employment in a wide range of non psychology related jobs.

Practitioner Psychologist Careers deals with psychologists who treat, practise or deal with members of the public and are regulated under the Health Professions Council. Non-practitioner Psychologist Careers relate to psychologists who do not treat or make direct psychological interventions with members of the public, and do not have to be Health Professions Council registered, and so cannot use one of the HPC Protected titles.
'General information' deals with other information you may find useful.
This site exists to give anyone interested in becoming a professional psychologist a flavour of what is involved. You should refer to the relevant university or educational institution, and professional and regulatory bodies for definitive up to date information.
